The characters spend their whole time trying to trick each other into having someone else do their dirty work. Captin Jack Sparrow is cunning in the way that he gets Will Turner to help him get his ship back, while Will is cunning in the way he gets Jack to help him get Elizabeth back. Jack is also cunning in the end of the first movie where he creates a cunning plan to steal a jewel, shoot Barbosa, and then drop the jewel back into the box so that barbosa does infact die.
